Artists, Technologies, Organisations and Competitions

There is a wide gap between artists that utilise technology as a medium for expression and technologists who use art as a medium for communication, and then there are the corporations that use art as a cool front..
Mind the gap - watch out for academic arscience, hidden agendas and the Emperors New Clothes..

Influences and Inspirations

A list of artists, inventors, thinkers I admire, respect and have been influenced by ...

Nikola Tesla - Genius! Naiive Optimist! Inventor of AC, challenged Edison over DC (the electric chair story), had wild dreams - electricity for free! Died poor alone and penniless - gave away all his patents in order to continue his transmission of electricity through the air experiments..

Linda Dalrymple Henderson: The Fourth dimension and non-euclidean geometry in modern art - a most excellent book linking mathematical thinking, artistic movements and the esoteric.

James Turrell - wonderous and transformational light experiences

Alchemy The Levity.com alchemical resource website - everything you could possibly want to know and more) Jung also delved into this area - a high degree of esoterica, though the principle idea of manipulating matter in order to effect an inner transformation of the self makes sense. (The real fools gold ;)

Marcel Duchamp

Rebecca Horn

Some Modern Folk I like!

Not Not - they have the craziest and most loveliest of ideas.. including Tickle the A-Life prize winning robot..

Grey World - UK eccentric electronic and socially inspired works..
